In the summer of 2017, DGSS was contracted by the Wenatchee Police Department (WPD) to conduct a program to garner community feedback from Wenatchee residents regarding the performance of the Department and its personnel in Wenatchee communities. As part of this effort, DGSS and Wenatchee PD representatives collaboratively developed a community feedback survey. The survey was designed to incorporate the specific needs of the police department but is also shaped by current and past social science research in the area of perceptions of police.
The goal of the community survey is to better understand Wenatchee residents’ experiences with and perceptions of WPD officers and the agency as a whole. This effort will contribute to a better understanding of areas in which programs and training can be modified to increase the effectiveness of WPD services and can serve as a foundation for building a stronger relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
