DGSS Community Technology Opportunity Program

CTOP Capacity Building Activities

We have teamed-up with Communities Connect Network to host a series of valuable capacity building activities for community technology programs.

Who should attend?

Staff, leaders, volunteers and board members from Community Technology (CT) providers in Washington State will benefit from attending these trainings, which are designed to strengthen CT Providers' individual and collective abilities to access sustainable funding.

What training does CTOP/ CCN offer?

In 2008 through mid-2009 CTOP/CCN will offer three workshops for CT providers:

  1. Outcomes Measurement and Evaluation, Part 2: Take the next step in putting credibility behind your Community Technology grant reports and funding requests. Learn effective language to describe your outcomes and impact, and work hands-on to design (or improve) your own program evaluations. Please come prepared to fully maximize the hands-on time by bringing your own evaluation plans and issues. (Open to new participants as well as those who joined us last year for Part 1.)
  2. Fundraising for Community Technology: Don't miss this myth-busting and informative session on where money really comes from for Community Technology programs and activities, offered by an expert in nonprofit fundraising. Learn eye-opening facts about the best sources of funding, and how to approach donors and funders to set up a win-win situation.
  3. Hosting an Effective Open House: Create new energy and support for your work by showing the impact of your Community Technology programs. Learn best practices for describing your impact and how to make the most of CCN's toolkit to create an engaging “Tech Tour” open house event.

How much do the workshops cost and how do I sign up?

The workshops are FREE (thanks to funding provided by the Washington State Legislature for the Community Technology Opportunity Program) and available statewide, in a mix of in-person and online formats.

Register for individual events from CCN's event calendar at http://www.communitiesconnect.org/about-ccn/event-calendar.
